Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 July 2026
Study Pal is operated by CediSmart Solutions (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use Study Pal and how we handle it, in line with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
What we collect
- Account details: your email address or phone number used to sign in.
- Learner profile: a display name, and — if the account is registered by a parent or guardian — the learner's first name and level (JHS or SHS).
- Practice activity: questions attempted, answers submitted, timing, correctness, review schedule, and diagnostic results.
- Technical data: basic device and connection information required to deliver the app reliably on low-bandwidth networks.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not collect a learner's full legal name, address, or national ID.
- We do not require access to your contacts, camera, microphone, or location.
Why we use your data
- To personalise practice and show you the next best question to attempt.
- To sync progress across your devices when you sign in.
- To keep the service secure and troubleshoot problems.
Guardian consent for learners under 18
If you are registering Study Pal on behalf of a learner under 18, you must be their parent or legal guardian. By selecting “My child or ward” at signup and confirming consent, you agree that we may store the learner's first name, level, and practice history under your account. You can request deletion at any time (see contact below).
Marketing pixels
With your consent, Study Pal loads the Meta (Facebook) and TikTok advertising pixels to measure how well our ads reach Ghanaian learners. Pixels are only loaded after you tap "Allow analytics" on the banner you see when you first visit; they collect browser-level event signals (page views, sign-up completions, first practice answer accepted). We do not send answers, learner names, email addresses, or phone numbers to these platforms. We do not currently use server-side ad measurement (Conversions API).
You can change your choice at any time using the control below. Choosing "Decline" reloads the page so any already-loaded ad script is unloaded. Study Pal itself continues to work exactly the same either way.
Essential service telemetry
Study Pal is hosted on a platform that records first-party service telemetry (for example error and performance signals sent to/~api/analytics on this domain) to keep the app reliable. This is essential operational data, is not shared with advertising platforms, and is separate from the optional Meta/TikTok pixels above. It is not controlled by the "Allow analytics" toggle.
Feedback and internal product analytics
Feedback is always optional. When you send feedback or tap whether an explanation was helpful, we store your rating, any tags you pick, the message you type, and the page, level, subject and question you were on. If you are signed in we attach your account so we can follow up on problems; guests are stored without an account. Please do not include passwords, payment details, or personal details about anyone else.
We also keep internal counts of how the app is used (registrations, answers accepted, paywall views, purchases) so we can see what to improve. These counts stay with CediSmart Solutions, are never sold, and are separate from the optional advertising pixels above.
Payments and StudyPal Plus
If you buy StudyPal Plus, payment is handled by Paystack. You enter your card or Mobile Money details on Paystack's own secure checkout — we never see or store them. We store only the payment reference, plan, amount, currency, status, payment date and the access period it granted, linked to your account, so we can prove your access and support you.
Product analytics
Separately from the optional marketing pixels above, we record a small number of internal product events (for example: first marked answer, upgrade screen shown, checkout started, payment verified) so we can tell how the learning and upgrade flow performs. These rows hold only your account id or an anonymous browser reference, the event name and non-sensitive details such as the plan code — never answers, names, phone numbers or payment credentials.
Your rights
Under Ghana's Data Protection Act you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. Contact us and we will respond within a reasonable period.
